The current head coach Diego Simeone took office on December 23, 2011 and has been in charge since. Atlético de Madrid is the top three teams in La Liga in terms of overall strength. The number of titles won, the number of season ticket holders and the total revenue are only behind the city clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona.
